Cybercrime: Crimes In A New Way

Cybercrime: Crimes In A New Way

Cybercrime is rampant and thousands of cyberattacks happen daily, all around the world. From phishing scams and money laundering to identity and theft, cybercrime is everywhere. If you’re online, you can be at risk. At Metro Experience Title, we are doing everything that we can to be proactive in keeping your personal information safe.

We can all do our part to reduce the risks of Cyber Fraud and Cybercrime. Something as simple as using unique passwords that are hard to guess and changing them often. Using two-factor authentications. Verbally verifying the authenticity of any requests for money or money transfers with a trusted person/business. Back up your data frequently and keep your malware services up to date. Report any suspicious activity and inspect all emails for anything out of the ordinary. Never click on any links that look “too good to be true” or even a little suspicious. If there is an opportunity, Cybercriminals will take it. Cybercriminals are always using new tactics and methods, all the while, avoiding detection and arrest.

In 2021, the most common cyberattack was Phishing e-mail scams. Phishing e-mails impersonate or mimic e-mails from someone or a business that you know. They specifically target their victims to try to trick them into entering their personal or financial information through links or attachments. For your protection, if you receive an e-mail containing wire transfer instructions, always independently confirm the wiring information in person or call your escrow officer at Metro prior to transferring any and all funds. Metro Experience Title will never alter wire instructions via e-mail.

In a world where cybercrime is always a risk, Metro is on the forefront, diligently trying to be current with our Malware protections, data backups, and defenses in general to keep you and your information as safe as possible.
